Walt,
If you find that you cannot repair and reinstall the ornery OEM switch board and are not a purist, Rocky point cycle has a updated/keyed ignition switch that fits and will put a smile on your face. It nestles under the spring loaded Switch cover and all you have to do once installed is epoxy the new rocky point key to the black bmw oem key top and you can’t tell the difference except the switch will last for 100 years.If you’re going to try to save the oem switch be very careful when you bend the 4 tabs back that hold the switchboard to the top of the nacelle.I don’t recall the fix for the right/ switch indents. Someone will chime in on that one. Good luck.
