October 18th meeting

I’ve been using LED head and taillights and Motobatt batteries for some time and I would add one consideration. I had an original rectifier/zenor diode regulating system malfunction on my 69 A65 BSA after a ride to breakfast. The harness melted on the positive (ground) side beginning at the rectifier and required replacement. After speaking with a few of my friends, the belief is the voltage from the Motobatt, (standing voltage >13volts) combined with the lower draw from the LEDs overwhelmed the primitive regulating system. (I installed a new harness when I restored the bike many years ago but only recently switched to Motobatts when replacing batteries)

I installed Tympanium (or Podtronics) regulator/rectifiers on all my Brit bikes. I’ve done it on my 75 Norton as well. May not be necessary but it does give me piece of mind after nearly burning up my BSA.

Perhaps even better, the heat sink is in the front, not the back of the bulb so there's nothing taking up valuable space in the headlight bucket. Looks like an improvement over what I have. Here's the offering from The Bonnieville Shop:
