I had an original rectifier/zenor diode regulating system malfunction on my 69 A65 BSA after a ride to breakfast. The harness melted on the positive (ground) side beginning at the rectifier and required replacement. After speaking with a few of my friends, the belief is the voltage from the Motobatt, (standing voltage >13volts) combined with the lower draw from the LEDs overwhelmed the primitive regulating system. (I installed a new harness when I restored the bike many years ago but only recently switched to Motobatts when replacing batteries)<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I installed Tympanium (or Podtronics) regulator/rectifiers on all my Brit bikes. I’ve done it on my 75 Norton as well. <div class="">Note they have BPF bulbs so you don't have to switch to an H4 plug and headlight. Perhaps even better, the heat sink is in the front, not the back of the bulb so there's nothing taking up valuable space in the headlight bucket. Looks like an improvement over what I have.
