[dvnr] Amperage question, and gathering

Your analysis is very perspective of you. While the ground from the battery to engine on a MkIII is substantial and is designed to carry the load of the starter is not suspect in this case, you may be right about the ground from the engine to the harness or to the headlight shell and or the podtronics voltage regulator. If I remember the story, Joe said that it took a while for the headlight to come on when charging and it continued to get brighter until it was at about 1/2 power. I'm pretty sure I asked him if he had a pilot light and I think he said either no or the pilot was not on.

Dan with his background in electrical work and others with more hands on experience certainly know more than I do, but I've been told repeatedly that the most common cause of problems, especially the really bizarre ones such as this, is a bad ground connection.
This might be a good diagnostics project at Frank's workshop meeting. (?) Just an idea.

Podtronics.    And also have the very heavy cables on it (original electric
start works great ).
