Slight veer off tools topic but can anybody recommend a good powder coat shop here in the MD / DC / NoVA area? I've used EastCoast PowderCoat up in North East, MD for some past work but that's a haul for me.

Commercial parts washer solvent IS mineral spirits. Just use common sense. No smoking, grinding, welding, etc around the parts washer. Keep the fusible link intact. It's there to allow the lid to close in case of fire... Wear gloves to protect your skin. There's a reason switches and outlets are not to be lower than 18 inches above the floor. Kerosene cleans parts pretty good and seems to light up slower than mineral spirits.

or 1/2gal simple green is very safe.

Safety is paramount with its use. If the directions call for a non flammable solvent, I would do so. Please be safe.

Greetings Md airheads-
I am new to this group, Ive been meaning to write, I now have a good excuse.

I am rebuilding a 1981 R100RS- down to frame paint.
I wasn’t planning on doing extensive engine work, but the guru from afar that I have been consulting with has convinced me to do some preventative maintenance.
I pulled the transmission to do the spline lube and its a mess in there. Oil and grime.
I now need to pull the clutch/flywheel to get to the oil pump. I’ll be doing the seals as well.
Which leads me to this - tools. I'm not against buying some of them, but they might be offered on loan from members here.
