Porter,
Replace the whole clutch pack is the same recommendation I was once told.
MotoBins is an online BMW parts site a K-bike friend of mine steered me to. Company is located in Britain which may raise an eyebrow or two. Usually even with shipping it comes in lower than other domestic parts places...to the tune of one hundred + dollars for the big $ items like a full clutch kit.

besure to index punch mark your whole assy [a tab] b4 taking it apart
Now, the rear main seal must have been leaking bad because the inside of the case is a terrible mess of char and goo.
The clutch friction disc is what is bad, its scarred, black and impregnated with oil. Its a goner.
In looking at the parts suppliers, I am getting the recommendation to replace all of the assembly as a whole, which is $$.
