Nice thread from 2010.
I have over 300k on modern BMW???s.    NO issues.     I change FD gear oil with 
every motor oil change.
BMW???s just took 5 of the top 10 positions in the Iron Butt Rally.   Top riders 
doing 1000 miles per day for 11 days.
Early 1200s had some issues.    Old news.
