 Tom, 
they only eat the insulation on 18 awg and larger wire diameter. If you rewire the bike with 20 awg wire you won’t have that problem .JUST KIDDING !!

Fortunately, I don’t have birdseed in the shed ,but I do use moth balls on the floor to keep the little pests outdoors.
I do like the peppermint oil idea, 
I wonder what a peppermint schnapps spray bottle treatment would do to the little bastards.
