Van Sant Airport Access

Thanks Mac for your historical repartee, as I have also been going there for the last 30 years. You are correct is a neat place to hang.

However, you have misunderstood my point. Asses is easy to the airport, the point is the finish line for the timed entrance should not be just at the turn in from the access road, this is right next to the flight line at that point and we should not congregate till we get to the relative safety of the road across from the hangers, as you mentioned “maybe 50 yards, park on the left side of the road” That way we can all be gathered to note the arrival times of our ill handling /5’s.

No matter what lets remember we are representing BMW, Motorcyclists and are visitors let’s be on our best behavior.

Cheers,
Eric

I've been to Van Sant Airport numerous times on Sundays for years and have never experienced access issues.

Access has been always very easy and is as follows:
Pull into the short access road/driveway for the airport, go maybe 50 yards, park on the left side of the road, you might have to pick out a spot amongst cars and motorcycles, it's never been an issue at all for myself and others I have been with.

Enjoy any take off or landing planes as you ride along the road :-) perhaps you will see a biplane or a plane pulling up a glider :-) on the grass strip. The place has an atmosphere of an old timey airport, only a few people store their planes there.

I have not been there in a year or two, perhaps things have changed in that time, but I doubt it. It is owed by the local county and rented to folks who like to pursue flying.

  Lets be clear here ..

Pull in park the bike kill the motor remove helmet for ID at precisely @
  1200hrs eastern time..

If we try to do this at noon at the access road entrance it will be a
cluster fu(k and could cause issues of safety as it is an active flight line

Should we make it a timed event similar to an enduro. You have to pull into
the airstrip at 1200EST. Early gets docked 2 points per minute. Late gets
docked 1 point per minute. Closest to zero wins and gets nothing!
