Then, torque using the BMW holder tool, to 150 foot-pounds, no more. Higher torque actually ?blows out? the flange taper and makes it never seat securely. Simple rule applies here: Do it right or leave it to somebody who will. It nestles under the spring loaded Switch cover and all you have to do once installed is epoxy the new rocky point key to the black bmw oem key top and you can?t tell the difference except the switch will last for 100 years. If you?re going to try to save the oem switch be very careful when you bend the 4 tabs back that hold the switchboard to the top of the nacelle.I don?t recall the fix for the right/ switch indents. There is still plenty of room for other riders/attendees, so at this time I would like to open the rally up to other BMW boxer enthusiasts, such as the R90S and R100RS riders and other vintage BMW boxer riders as well. If you are already signed up for the rally or have hesitated because you did not have a fellow friend to ride with, now is the time to join us and to ask your friend(s) to join you also on your journey. I know there is still plenty of time left, but I would like to fill the roster, so I have some chance of covering my expenses, at this point, I will be in deep trouble, so please help me recruit some more BMW boxer riders to join in on the celebration. I have a lot planned and we have some really good guests with interesting presentations not to mention Hans A. Muth?s last visit to these shores. We will be covering the last of Hans? design work with BMW, he has put a lot of time and effort into this event, with a very special presentation, that has never before been divulged and you folks will be the first to see and here this news from Hans himself. I?ve made some changes to the website and decided to keep the rally fee the same, so please help me spread the word and fill the house for this event. I spoke with artist and vintage BMW enthusiast John Ritter recently and he is working on a very special commemorative poster which I?m sure you will like and will be available, Hans A. Muth is providing me with very unique graphic artwork, which I will be using for commemorative T-Shirts, decals, etc. I am working on a commemorative cloisonn? key chain. Glad we could entertain your riding companions with a SlicedCycle demo run. Always great to see everyone. And Dale, good luck with the turtles.? I?d be interested to know how the soup turns out. If I missed thanking anyone, my apologies. Probably time for my first cocktail as my memory seems to be fading out. I managed to arrive about five hours earlier than last year... and was greeted by many familiar faces. I came on four wheels instead of two this year and was eager to assist with other people's projects. There were plenty to go around, and one in particular was very humbling. Andre came from Manassas, Virginia with a new to him R65 that he could not get to run consistently. It was fitted with Mikuni 34mm round slide carburetors, a Motorrad Elektrik Alpha V.3 ignition system, and a BROWN Dyna coil. We tried everything we could think of to get the bike to idle and run consistently... In the end we could not make the bike run as it should. Andre, to his credit, left not dejected- but determined to contact Rocky Point Cycles for information on jetting and adjusting the carburetors. We also suggested swapping in a known good ignition system as a check against what was installed in his motorcycle. With all the combined knowledge available (which should have been more than adequate), we simply could not make the bike run. We spent time working on other motorcycles with measured success, but I was unsuccessful at replacing the speed sensor/odometer connection to the rear drive of my 93 Volvo 940. I will chalk that one up to mismatched components and the inability to get a positive connection between the sensor and wiring assembly. That will have to wait for this coming weekend... We did manage to make Mark's bike come alive again with some carburetor adjustments and other modest interventions. All in all, it was another fine weekend in Culpeper, VA. I was sad to have it end, and at the same time I am not sure I could have endured a third evening... I am already looking forward to next year's event! I am the 3rd owner.? The R90S had sat under cover on a patio since early 1997. High mileage bike ridden all over the US on many a cross country trip.? Original mileage around 127-130k. The R90S has been completely disassembled and restored. Nearly 18 months on the restoration project.? Engine was stripped to bare block and rebuilt using many new pieces.? Transmission disassembled and rebuilt with a new input shaft, all new bearings and seals.? The rear drive was torn down, inspected, new pieces and seals.? The driveshaft was worn so replaced with a cush-drive unit.? Wheels done with all new bearings, seals, stainless spokes, and drilled rotors replacing the stock units.? DelOrtos were in sad shape and replaced with new units.? Exhaust system is full stainless steel.? Shocks are Ikon units with covers.? Front suspension was refreshed with new seals, stops, and split rings. Paint set is Daytona Orange smoke.? Originally bike was the black silver smoke but my buddy wanted to have Daytona Orange even if not correct for a 74. Way too much to mention here that was done to restore this bike.? Attached text file has more details. Pictures can be seen online at https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0N5aDWbrxBshj. Additional pictures available showing bike as it arrived and work invested. Asking price is $7500. Not interested in low ball offers.? Price is reasonably firm based on value, effort, and money invested. Clear Vermont historical title for cash sale.? Easily transferable.?
