Darryl Richman riding his 1928 R52 BMW, back in the running after some more
mechanical problems

The overall leader, Chris Tribbey loses ground and fall out of first place
due to dropping a valve on his 1911 Excelcior, single cylinder, single
speed. Rider Pat Simmons completes every mile on his 1928 H-D up until
stage 8, but drops out so he can join up with the Doobie Brothers Band and
play at a concert with Zac Brown and the Eagles in San Francisco. His wife
Cris Sommers Simmons, continues on successfully with her 1915 H-D model J.

Our friend and fellow BMW rider Darryl Richman, riding his 1928 R52 BMW, is
in 74th place from 107 riders who started. He is at somewhat of a
disadvantage, having multiple cylinders and multiple speeds, but it appears
that he has had some more mechanical problems, baling out at the end of
stage five and not competing in stage six, but since then, he has completed
every mile in every stage. It looks like his troubles are behind him for
now.
