[PAAirheads] Eastern Kentucky... suggestions for trip

Hello folks. My BMW friend and I am planning a trip next week to eastern KY, going fron NE to SW . Looking for Appalacian , very rural, back country places.
Is there anything we should be concerned about? Places to avoid etc??
We then plan to go to NW  thru state forrests, and on to interstate East to Huntington,WVA. Then on home to Hanover,PA.
Suggestions are to great roads to take??? Would be most appreciated.
