Rob, I'd be at the tent float this year but am out of town, so don't count
me out.

Thanks for doing this for all of us. I've attended several times in the
past and it is a very pleasant event, trees, good local restaurants, and

Fellow Airheads,
I've been a club member now about twenty years and decided it was long overdue to at least host a Tech Day.  It will be nice if a few folks show up, wouldn't mind a crowd even!

Here 'ya go:

First Annual Mason Dixon Tech Day/Social Gathering/Swap Meet-Saturday September 8th, 8:00 AM to ? at the rural home of Mark Passaro.  We are located in south-central PA about twenty miles north of the MD line at the foot of South Mtn. near York Springs.  Perhaps some of the Marylanders will join us, all are welcome.  Hoping to have some "keepers of the knowledge" present to assist with repairs or maintenance.  Most standard and some special tools here, contact me if you have a need and arrangements can be made to have required tools available.  Oft times now these affairs are more of a social gathering and less about wrenching and that is fine as well.   Plenty of room and we'll keep the pool open!  I will have table space available to sell any parts or gear (I'm emptying some shelves), clean out that horde of Motorrad gold and bring it, pass it on to a Club member.

Bike had sat for over 10 years covered in a garage. This is a matching 
numbers original R100S with 18,2xx original miles.? The body work 
including the S fairing was replaced with identical parts previously 
painted in Gloss Black with blue pinstripes.? No damage on any of the 
body pieces.? Nicknamed the bike the Black Knight.?? For obvious 
reasons.? Everything on the bike is either black, blue accent, or silver.

For anyone in the group that might be interested the price is $4300 and 
that's firm.? If no interest in the group will go up on Craigslist for 
considerably more.? May consider trade for other Airhead needing work 
and refreshing as partial payment.? Picture or two available now and 
will post a complete set to a shared album in the next few days.

New Parts:

Exhaust pipes, rider peg rubbers and shifter rubber, front brake pads, 
clutch plate and compression plate, rear main seal and oil pump seal, 
Dyna electronic ignition, K&N air filter, rear master cylinder, front 
and rear tires, stainless steel brake lines front and rear, mirrors, 
grips and handlebars, MRA tinted windscreen, fork legs, seat, re-usable 
fuel filters, and VDO gauges in fairing (original gauges were shot).

Main Work Done:

Engine cylinders pulled and honed, heads blasted and valves lapped and 
reseated, timing chain inspected, diode board replaced, install new 
seals where needed, install new clutch pieces, all fluids refreshed, 
front master cylinder rebuilt, front forks rebuilt, 40mm carbs rebuilt, 
front and rear calipers disassembled and cleaned ( seals good), replaced 
center stand, and new seals in rear drive.? Bike was stripped down to 
the frame, frame touched up with epoxy paint, and then re-assembled.

Non-Stock Items:

The seat (74 R90S seat pattern), Marzocchi shocks, custom side stand, 
MRA tinted windscreen, dual plugged with Dyna coils, and of course the 
paint job.

All this bike needs is a new owner.

We are doing it again...

Next week we will construct the block pig cooker in Mike and Sue DiPietro's yard, source a pig and some beef,  haul in a half cord of seasoned oak and get everything set up.

Then Friday June 1st we will start the pig and let it cook slowly for about twenty hours... In addition to the pig we plan to roast a big slab of beef and we will have some hot dogs for the kids.

We will also have music and bunch of picnic tables for the event.

Come early, stay late.

Many of you are likely aware that this is the same weekend as the Square Route Rally in Thurmont, MD hosted by the BMWBMW riders.  If you want to ride down out of the mountains for the afternoon and eat some barbecue and then head back that's fine with us.

If you want to ride down, and sleep on the floor in my house or pitch your tent in the back yard, that's fine too- just let me know in advance of your intentions. First come first served...

If you can make it let us know.

Please bring a side dish to share and what you would like to drink.  We'll have our canoe full of ice again this year for your beverages. We'll also have non-alcoholic beverages.

This is a kid-friendly neighborhood party. We will have yard games set up for children and adults to enjoy.

Here's the link to the photo album of the low mileage 1978 R100S that I 
just refreshed.? For anyone in our group the price is $4300 w/o the bags 
and $4450 with the bags.? Prices are Firm.? Both bags are in good 
condition but each has the proverbial crack on the lid from being hit or 
jammed.? The cracks have been repaired with silicone glue and with body 
putty inside.

Will be posting on Craigslist today if you know of anyone outside the 
group who might be interested.

It looked like rain as I got up near Harrisburg, but never happened. Yes! The RT (red rocket) managed to catch up with our Mass friends, John and Bradley, as I rolled up to my exit off of Rt. 33.

 Much thanks to Rob, Eric&Jyl, and Mark P for all the hauling of the ?necessities? that are hard to haul on the bike. 

What a great time and an awesome way to kick off the season! So great to see the originators of this Epic event. I can?t wait to get rained on next year. Fun fun!

I never thought I'd say this but I have too many bikes in the queue to 
renovate.? Currently I have 8 bikes in the queue.?? So I'm going to 
offer up one of the bikes to anyone in the club that might be 
interested.? Since I have two R50 /5's that are full projects I'm 
offering up the one that is now an R60/5.

It's a 72 SWB with high mileage but it has been rebuilt with R60 
cylinders and pistons once.? Bike was originally sold to the Maryland 
Messenger Service and used for years as a delivery bike in DC and 
Baltimore.? Mileage is over 100k.?? It's a rolling chassis with many 
parts but not everything.? It has the critical pieces, engine, tranny, 
driveshaft, rear-end, wiring harness, headlight bucket and gauge, both 
wheels and brake assemblies, tank, and fenders.? Tank is in good 
condition and can be used as is.? Has some nicks in the paint.? White.? 
It doesn't have a seat and it doesn't have the headlight assembly.? Some 
controls but they're so-so.?? I paid $just under $600 for it as is and I 
have another $70 tied up in getting a PA title.? I'll sell it to anyone 
in the group that would like to have this as a project for $650.

If anyone is seriously interested let me know and I'll provide you with 
pictures.

I have available the 3/4 solo seat assembly for either an RS or CS.? The 
cowling is in very good condition.? It is white with the red and blue 
pinstripes.? All original paint and great patina. The seat on it is a 
Corbin in a deep blue, almost black with royal blue piping.? It also is 
in great to excellent condition.? The seat assembly came from a Last 
Edition CS or RS.

If anyone has a need for such an assembly let me know and I'll send some 
pics.? Otherwise up on IBMWR it goes.? Pricing a bit high due to the 
rarity and the overall patina of the assembly.

When I brought my 1989 R80 with the S seat that came on the later /7 bikes I thought it looked pretty cool...

I took my wife for a ride and thought to myself... I know it's been a few years since she's been on the bike with me and she's had two kids, but there is WAY less room on this bike for two than the flat seat on the 1974 R90/6 I had before.

I was careful not to make this comment aloud...

After a 500 mile day from VT to Maryland I liked it even less... other than for its sheer beauty and elegant line...

Then I found a Corbin Dual Canyon used and it fit me well. Still not enough room for a passenger back there, but the contour of the seat holds a dry bag well!

I do not have a spare tool tray and mine is cracked but remains useable...

I'm asking $2,500 for my 1978 R80/7 pictured here. Bike is located near
Phillipsburg, NJ.

It has the Luftmeister fairing and BMW saddlebags.  58,400+ miles.  Runs
well. Some minor scratches.  Not original color but I think it is nicer.
Saddle bags are faded and one has makeshift clasps.  Also has an extra
Corbin seat in like new condition that is too hard for me. Rear tire is
worn.

Hedzs,

We are STILL doing it... BUT due to the unrelenting forecast of rain this weekend with multiple thunderstorms and flash flood projections we have decided to move the date to the last Saturday in June.

So, please join us Saturday June 30, 2018 starting at 3:00PM.  Hopefully those of you who were free this coming Saturday will still be able to make it, and those who had conflicts will now be available.

Same offer for camping and crashing space should you be so inclined...
