*Last call* for the Jim Hopkins Museum visit on Aug 25 @ 10 AM.
This COULD be a duplicate email so please *disregard* any second email.
My original email invite from July containing the details of this visit is
below.
Please NOTE:
Jim's Museum is north of Washington, DC and SW of Baltimore, so the traffic
in that area is VERY congested and not conducive to motorcycle group travel
if folks are not good riders and familiar with the riding style of others
they may travel with; i.e., it is easy to lose someone in a group. I
caution you to go by car or pick your moto travel companions carefully.
If your name is NOT listed below or if you are now unable to attend, please
RSVP to me to add or delete your name.
Confirmation of your attendance is NOT necessary if your initials ARE
listed below :-)
I will send the address of Jim's Museum to you as we get closer to the date
and confirm attendees who are attending; Jim has asked that his address NOT
be shared, so PLEASE abide by his wishes.
*Please ARRIVE ON TIME*; use Google Maps during a high traffic time to
obtain a most accurate estimate of the required travel time due to the
traffic congestion in that area.
Here are the initials of the folks who have RSVP'ed to attend the Jim
Hopkin's Museum on Aug 25 @ 10 AM:
Rich Nagy
Rob Price
Kevin Fahey
Tim DuBon
Tom Cutter (maybe)
Dave Fish
Rob Zach (maybe)
Kevin Fahey (+2 friends?)
Roy Hall
Terence Hamill
Mike Adams (+Mark Foster)
Following is my original email invite from July:
*********************
To All BMW Airheads and BMW motorcycle enthusiasts:
A visit on Aug 25 @ 10 AM has been arranged to see Jim Hopkin's Museum in
Clarksville, MD, see
http://www.hopkinsbmwmuseum.com/
Click "Mission" in the above link, to see what his museum is all about; it
is people oriented, but you will see the fastest BMW motorcycle (an S1000RR
from San Diego BMW), several R90Ss a 1927 BMW and other BMW motorcycles, as
well as the helmet that Reg Pridmore wore during his win of the 1976
Superbike Championship, and* everything* in between.
It is a remarkable museum.
Jim has made several expansions to his home over the years, which is where
the museum is housed, and has greatly increased the number of items on
display.
It is likely the best and most extensive exhibit in the world of all things
"BMW motorcycle people", and is not to be missed.
As invitees to Jim's home, he is requesting we tell him how many will be
attending as he will have drinks for each of us when we arrive, he will
conduct the tour and then he will serve us a casual lunch and something
sweet.
How great is that?
*We must give Jim a headcount, so please let me know by Aug 19 if you will
attend.* Some minor changes after that will be accommodated if possible,
but plan on either letting me know you will attend by Aug 19, or plan a
trip for another time.
AND
*Note the location of Jim's house*, it is west of and between Baltimore and
Washington, DC; Google maps says getting there from eastern PA for
instance, takes one down I95 and all the very heavy traffic by Baltimore,
etc.
I may travel west and go through Ephrata, then south and sneak up on
Clarksville, MD from the west, it is only a little longer but a much less
congested route.
Everyone is invited, so yes, bring a friend, but do include them with your
headcount. This invite will also go out to the MD and NJ Airheads.
Thank you,
Mac Kirkpatrick
