Fontana getaway MOA rally CANCELLED

RE  For you information if plans to attend MOA GetaWay Fontana 
I received the official word that the MOA Fontana Getaway Rally is Cancelled.  It was originally scheduled for mid April... then delayed to end of Aug... both the MOA reservation and Hotel reservations.  I heard that there was a problem with the hotel and now it appears that the management company for the hotel is out of business. They are not responsive to either MOA or individual's calling.  I tried a few days ago.
The MOA is giving registration credit for future events... but those with down payments for a hotel room are in limbo.  With no response for my $70 deposit, I called my credit card company. Even though it may take 30 days, my credit card company said they will process the refund.

FROM MOA  6/25  Ray TubbsThank you for registering for the BMW MOA Getaway in Fontana, North Carolina. As might be expected, Fontana Village has been closed during the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this closure, we worked diligently with their staff to reschedule the Getaway for a date when they could safely reopen and both sides agreed to August 28-30, 2020. All efforts on the part of the MOA were put into making this new date safe and successful for our members.On June 5, 2020, news reports indicated Fontana Village, Inc. had vacated the property and returned their lease to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). We have attempted to contact Fontana Village management as well as the TVA since learning of this development. To date, no calls or emails have been returned from the Fontana Village staff or management and TVA has indicated they have no recourse but to keep the facility closed until such time as they can contract with a new management company.We want to apologize for the inconvenience but, given these facts, we have no choice but to cancel the Fontana Getaway for 2020. We also want to make you aware that you have two options on your Fontana registration: You can receive a full refund or a voucher good for a future MOA event. The event voucher will be in the form of a coupon code you can use for any BMW MOA event - including a National Rally, MOA Getaway or Premier Training event - for the next calendar year. Refunds will be processed directly to your credit card. You may call the MOA office at (864) 438-0962 during business hours, Eastern Time, or email us directly at membership at bmwmoa.org to assist you.Many of you have deposits made directly with the Fontana Village Resort that are separate from your MOA registration. We urge you to continue to try to contact the resort directly at (828) 498-2211, but to also contact your credit card company and contest the charges. We have filed a report with the North Carolina Attorney General’s office over these business practices and will continue to advocate for our members.
