Dear Chao and Bill:

Thank you for a lovely evening. The warmth and charm of your home is
exceeded only by the hospitality and creativity of your kitchen. Never
again will I order Chinese take-out. Chao prepared some of the most
intricate and delightful combinations of natural flavors and spices. I
especially liked the hint of ginger in the fried dumplings, and the kick of
spice in the little egg-rolls was a pleasant surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed
the dry tofu salad, with its overtones of cilantro. The pork and orchid
dish was the first of my experience, and I wished I had asked Chao about
its name and its origins.

The eclectic nature of the other dinner guests was a delight as well.
Roger's tragic tale of burying the front wheel of a machine into a
water-filled hole, situated six miles into absolute desolation, was
nothing less than gripping. His rescue by two Swiss bell-ringers was
equally amazing. Joe's understated commitment to ancient two-stroke
motorcycles was impressive. And I greatly appreciated the tour of your
personal collection of bikes whose cylinders do not exceed "two."

It occurs to me that I am in over my head with you guys. I have no stories
to match yours. Then again, you have all been riding 60 years longer than I
have.

Thanks again for a great night.

Fondest regards,
Jack Riepe
