thanks much ‘Rich. I’ll do my best to keep everybody in the loop. Surgery on the foot and ankle happens on Wednesday evaluation of the damage to the knee happens on Tuesday no idea what any of this means in the long run. The doctor seem to think I should get 85 to 95% mobility back in the ankle. Time will tell.
I wish like hell I could blame somebody else for this but ultimately to be honest I could have been more careful. At this point when the surgery is over My next concernI is to somehow to exercise these bikes because none of them are winterized and all of them are just sitting with that shit ethanol gas in them, And I don’t want my first motorcycle related work to have to be rebuild and ultrasonic clean a bunch of carburetors.
I also have still been thinking about how to improve the front end suspension of the 850. The stock suspension components are all new and freshly rebuilt and while  they seem to operate perfectly I cannot get over that knocking sound on full extension. I’ve heard a rumor of cartridges that could be installed As a replacement for the stock rebound dampening set up at the road holder’s Offer. Anybody have any luck with Front suspension cartridges or have any recommendations? my understanding is the aftermarket cartridges offer both rebound and compression dampening which can only help. As things sit now all I can do is dream about wrenching and riding updating the iso elastics on the front to the modern variant so that I can adjust them without spacers and rebuilding the gearbox to update that faulty lay shaft bearing.
As things sit now my biggest struggle it’s getting to the bathroom before the pain overbruns me. It’s an interesting race See you guys on the other side I’ll be back.
Cheers, Eric

greetings all from the new guy, well I haven’t had a chance to meet all of you my name is Eric on a new to me black and gold 74 850 interstate. Unfortunately one of my other bikes impacted a left turning fender at a fairly good rate of speed in Asheville North Carolina last weekend. What this means is the next 10 to 12 weeks I’ll be sitting on my butt having surgeries and trying to heal. I just didn’t want you to think I was ignoring y’all.
The way I look at it at 56 years of age it’s somewhere around a half 1,000,000 miles on my butt this is my first significant accident that’s not too bad. Talk to y’all soon ride safe remember the sons of bitches are out to get you.
Cheers, Eric
