[dvnr] Upcoming Meeting

 Pat
I think I can find something like that in my shop, may take until tomorrow though. Let me ask you a serious question, the same one that I try to impress upon all shade tree mechanics, did you soak the bearing/shaft liberally with penetrating oil before you started. Think about times you tried to press a dry shaft into a dry hole. Friction of removal is even more when it hasn't moved in 60 years. I have a puller like your link #3. Heat, torch or even heat gun such as a paint removal heat gun does wonders. Molecules get very active when heated. Please keep the hammer away from the crankshaft. A few strikes in the wrong place will reduce it to scrap, especially the oil feed end of the shaft.

I'm hoping the weather co operates in the AM. Looking forward to seeing everyone. I will have 2019 membership forms with me.

cheerio

DVNR Members,

If anyone owns a crankshaft bearing removal tool like the one shown here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l2ExO5v8R4...please bring it to Bob and
Tari's this Sunday. I'm having a just a grand time this Saturday afternoon
trying to coerce the old bearings off a Norton crankshaft.

Use of this tool President George lent me
https://www.harborfreight.com/large-bearing-separator-3979.html along with
excessive use of a hammer and spittle riddled screaming have yet to produce
any results. Looks like I'm going to need this
https://www.harborfreight.com/bearing-separator-and-puller-set-62593.html or
even better, this

...unless you have something similar I can use on Sunday. If you do...many
thanks in advance.
