Chris,

OK, you went and did it.  I guess your question should be - my Norton leaks from these spots (fill in) and how should I address.

Top Norton leak spots:

  1.
Head gasket- good luck.  You might try the expensive CNW bolts and a good gasket sealer.
  2.
Tack Drive - upgraded seal Andover Norton

Also the addition of a crankcase breather typically lessens the rate of oil leakage.

Jim Comstock (Norton Machine Shop guru and engineer) has spent decades upgrading Norton's and has not achieved no leaks goal yet.

We can certainly go over the Norton oil leak options  at next meeting at Bob Katz's.

Also an interesting read for the CB750 fans.

Gentlemen,

I will spend this winter eliminating any possible oil weeping or outright
seeping on my Mk III electric start.
I am seeking advice and access to a machine shop where I can address any
issues with modern technology solutions.
Unlike British solutions ( o rings and crush washers) I want to use modern
options and correct problems with non stone-age tools.  Sorry this sounds
harsh but is not meant to.

I'm an engineer and part time machinist so that's my approach.
Any thoughts are welcome.
My number is 973-462-5539.

Cheers (bit of British)
