<div style="color:black;font: 10pt Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The securing nuts for the petcocks are double threaded.  <br>

The one for the gas tank (upper) is right hand thread (as they say) "righty tighty, lefty loosey".  <br>
The one for petcock (lower) is left hand thread.<br>
<br>
The reason for this is so the crush (sealing) washer will be squeezed and sealed in the middle of each thread travel when the securing nut is rotated in the clockwise direction screwing the petcock to the gas tank.<br>
<br>
The trick is to bring the two halves together in the middle of their travel.  Practice it a couple times to get things to come together in mid-travel. <br>
