I showed the bike to an interested enthusiast on Sunday, an attractive offer was made after an inspection, test ride and a deal was made with Patti.  I [UTF-8?]won???t go into the particulars as [UTF-8?]that???s between the buyer and Patti, but [UTF-8?]I???m pretty sure both parties were pleased.

[UTF-8?]I???ve been riding, wrenching, restoring and collecting for 54 years.  I let a couple of motorbikes get away in years past, because I hesitated too long and [UTF-8?]didn???t pull the trigger when I should have.  [UTF-8?]I???ve learned my lesson many years ago.

I knew [UTF-8?]Joe???s R90S would not last long, because of the history, provenance and the great care that was taken over the years.  Joe was fanatical in restoring and maintaining this very desirable bike.  Unmolested examples such as this [UTF-8?]don???t appear very often.  The bike not only looked like new, it ran like a new model.

The K100/EML is still available at this moment, but there are interested parties and standing offers on the table.  I understand sidecars [UTF-8?]aren???t for everyone, but Horst Oberst realized that as we get older, we may want a sidecar in the stable.  For those who have children or grandchildren or puppies, they can be lots of [UTF-8?]fun???just ask me how I know.

You may have lost an opportunity to own [UTF-8?]Joe???s wonderful R90S, but [UTF-8?]I???ll tell you his K100/EML is presently available and a terrific rig.  The EMLs are one, if not thee premier sidecar rig to [UTF-8?]own???way over engineered. The bike comes complete with factory tools, factory owners/service manual, service records,  BMW saddlebags, BMW tank bag and sidecar cover.  The rig is BMW color matched in factory blue metallic.

If interested, I will be happy to make arrangements to view and inspect this rig with Patti Dille.

Hint:  Someone in western PA has made a standing offer.  I believe an offer of $9K will take the rig and Patti may even entertain other offers.  This rig is ready to roll, runs strong, tracks true and only has 53K miles on an engine that is good for 300K miles. Joe bought the K100 new off the [UTF-8?]dealer???s showroom and has maintained this machine with the same care as his R90S.

Joe [UTF-8?]Dille???s 75 R90S Daytona went quickly to a new home.  Now [UTF-8?]I???m concentrating on helping his wife Patti find a new home for [UTF-8?]Joe???s 86 K100/EML GT.

For those who may have an interest, or if not, please pass this on to someone who may:

Joe purchased this bike new in 86, then at some point in time, bought and installed the factory color matching EML GT sidecar kit, which was designed and built specifically for the K100.  The EML sidecar is without a doubt, one of thee premier sidecars in the business.  They are over engineered in my opinion and they also  require many, many hours, days, weeks or more to [UTF-8?]install??? [UTF-8?]that???s if you know what you are doing.  Bob Henig of [UTF-8?]Bob???s BMW, said even his experienced mechanics may take two weeks or more to put one of these rigs together, if all goes well.

EML incorporates its own leading link, Earles type front suspension for proper braking and handling, use their own rear suspension, brake calibers and disc rotors, wheels, hydraulics, electrics, lighting, sidecar mounts, steering dampers, etc. etc.  [UTF-8?]Then???. the rig has to be dialed in just right.

You [UTF-8?]don???t have to do any of this grunt work, [UTF-8?]Joe???s superior mechanical aptitude figured it all out, carefully and patiently put it all together one piece at a time.  [UTF-8?]Oh???BTW, there are lots of pieces, but when [UTF-8?]it???s complete and done right, you have something special, a rig that runs strong, brakes exceptionally and tracks like [UTF-8?]it???s on rails.  [UTF-8?]I???m a vintage airhead enthusiast at heart, but I do also ride my K100/EML rig all year long; it has become my go to bike in the winter.  You [UTF-8?]don???t have to be quite so cautious on those days when slippery patches may appear out of nowhere.  [UTF-8?]Oh???did I tell you how much children and dogs love to ride in sidecars!

The K100, at this point in time, was an excellent candidate for the EML.  The K100 engine is rock solid in design and build [UTF-8?]quality???1000cc, four cylinders, fuel injected, water cooled, electronic ignition, a true workhorse. What more do you want.  May even last a half million miles or more if properly maintained and not abused.

Now speaking of maintenance, I [UTF-8?]don???t think you will find anyone as fanatical as Joe was with his maintenance. Below is the complete service history of his 86 K100/EML GT.  Take note:  Yes there were some long periods of time when the rig was sleeping comfortably in [UTF-8?]Joe???s garage undisturbed.  The rig may not have moved one inch in a particular year, but the oil and filter got changed [UTF-8?]anyway???.That was just Joe.

I hope someone appreciates the love and care put into this rig. Someone please give this sidecar a new home, It is in excellent condition, comes complete with factory BMW saddlebags, factory tank bag, factory tool kit, factory owners manual, service manual, aux. fuel and coolant temperature gauges, two custom sidecar covers for below and above the windscreen depending on use or [UTF-8?]storage???fresh engine oil and a full tank of fuel.  Well almost, [UTF-8?]I???ll admit I may have put a few miles on her in the past two weeks.  Check out how pampered and spoiled this girl was treated. Look at the mileage between oil & filter changes.

I have decided to sell my 83 R100RS.   I've owned it since 2014 and I am the
third owner.  It was originally purchased at Roman Cycle Shop in Youngstown
PA.  Mileage is 63,750.  I'm selling because I also have a GS and I just
have  not been riding it much.  It has had many improvements and necessary
mechanical upgrades and runs great.  Comes with the original panniers,
owners manual, and tool kit.  Currently on it is a Corbin Gun Fighter seat
and I picked up a very good condition original seat if I ever wanted to put
it back to stock.  I like the Corbin so I left it that way.  Handlebars are
from K bike.  Asking $4,500 or will entertain any reasonable offers.  It
could use painting, I opted to keep it original.  If interested shoot me an
email and I can prepare a list of upgrades (e.g., front fork rebuild with
emulator valves, Gazi rears shocks, LED lights, Kat Dash, etc.) and send
pics.  The heads were done by Randy Long via previous owner (I have receipt
for work done).

I think it went to a good [UTF-8?]home???.all parties seemed very pleased.  [UTF-8?]There???s a good chance I will be delivering the bike to the new owner in Ithaca, NY.  Jim said if I ride the rig to Ithaca, he would fly me home to Harleysville.  I told him he had a deal and he [UTF-8?]doesn???t even have to land the plane, just provide me with a [UTF-8?]parachute???it???s been a few years, but it just like riding a bike.

Thanks to everyone involved, there were about 12 parties interested in the sidecar, If Jim decided not to buy, there was another party from MD, who was ready to ride up on Sunday, immediately after Jim left.  It was a solid rig, Joe, Patti, the kids and dogs enjoyed it very much and Patti has many fond memories.  I think the new owner will do the same for many years to [UTF-8?]come???.let???s hope so.

If you have the time, please read the attached article above regarding what went into the decision to build an EML rig and all that was involved.  Patti forwarded that to me last week and I really enjoyed reading the article. Hard to believe, but Joe states that he had over 200 hours building and attaching the sidecar to his new 86 K100. [UTF-8?]It???s a really good story, I hope you enjoy reading.
