[NYAirheads] [NJairheads] TZ Tech Day April 27

Hi Kat and all,

I haven't been to a tech day before and am trying to clear the decks to get to this one. Kat, I met you at the BMW RA National Rally in Wellsboro PA where you graciously walked me though installation of your KATDASH /6 kit. I am thrilled with the kit and the LED turn signals - what an improvement!

Anyway, being new to tech days, I want to ask - there are two tasks that I would love to tackle.

One is a compression / leak test. I only have my '70s era push in compression tester and I know it's not up to the job. Is there any chance that someone at TZ Tech Day will have a screw in compression tester and a leak tester, and can mentor me through testing?

The other is spline lubrication. I've had this airhead since 1984 and had the spline lube done twice at the dealer. So I know it needs it, or at least a good look. I picked up a tube of Honda M-77 in anticipation, but would love to do this job with some wiser experienced folks around. Is this too big a job to do during a tech day?

Do I bring my own basic tools?

Thanks all, and I hope I can attend!

HI Gang,

We are holding our 5th downstate NY tech day in Blauvelt, NY. (about 20 miles north of NYC near the TZ bridge)
We have a 2 bay garage with a large concrete driveway out front, so there is plenty of room. I’ve even got a lift now!
I have most of the common BMW tools. If you have a more complex project, please contact us ahead of time so we can arrange for special tools and setup. As always bring your own fluids and parts.
TZ Tech day is also the home of KATDASH, and we will have a on site discount and install guide if you’re interested. I also have a Harmonizer and I can sync some carbs if you need.
Looks like we will be doing a carb rebuild for a /5, so there will be that to watch.
Jean has offered to help with brake bleeding and fluid replacement if you need to change your brake fluid.

This year I’ve made a Torque Test board with some of the common nuts used on our Airheads. The airhead who gets the closest to measured torque settings will win a Airhead pint glass.

Tom Cutter will also attend, and is willing to bring parts. Please email him ahead of time with your parts or fluids (he has the proper oils and filters in stock) needs and he will bring stuff or ship ahead to site: rubberchickenracing at gmail.com. PLEASE contact him with your parts requirements by April 17th!

RSVP: PLEASE let us know you’re coming so we can plan for enough food! We’ll start at 8:30am with bagels and coffee, and we’ll have pulled pork for lunch. $10 contribution for food & beverages. email RSVP to Kat and if you need directions: katcon85 at optonline.net
