I am looking at purchasing an airbag vest.? ? Here's a good youtube video analysis of different types.

I tried on Bill Dudley.s XL vest recently and found it too snug around the middle.... I guess they don't make "pear-shaped stretchees"...??

I?ve got the Helite Roger, and I know of three others in New Sweden that own one.   Tbh, I don?t even notice it, it?s like seatbelt to me, I don?t even have to think about attaching it...its just ?habit?.    We had one rider in our club crash wearing hers and she walked away from the accident.

I recommend it to everyone, cheap insurance, it?s certainly not gonna save you from everything but a lot of the typical injuries I believe it will help, I.e., broken clavicle, ribs.  My 2 cents.

I bought the hit-air from Amazon. 
Appears they?re currently not available now at least through Amazon I paid about 450 for mine I totally recommend it although I?ve never really needed it yet fortunately. 
Although I did get stuck in some deep sand on a tight U-turn on my RT this past October I believe. I couldn?t hold the bike up so I basically went down, the airbag deployed in about a half a second.  
As I said I really didn?t need it for that slow fall but it was nice to know that it worked! 
Just screwed in a spare CO2 cartridge and I was good to go.  ?

I have a Helite . It is comfortable enough for all day rides. Just be aware that you have incorporate attaching the tether in your start up ritual. Being an old dog I forget this step all too often. I have developed a ritual of checking to see if the tether is attached once underway and inevitably have to pull over to secure the tether

FYI:  I was out riding yesterday, roads north of Trenton up the river to 78 the roads are still salt covered and run off everywhere.  I saw the route and as you head northwest the roads will be shit. We need one more heavy rain and a few more warm nights. I was out last Wed and there were still patches of ice on the road up there and 2 inches of snow.

This is an additional report I received from a friend in NW Jersey area.

"I did a ride on Tuesday and Wednesday on the RT and today did a 17 mile
bicycle ride.  The snow is basically gone, but I did run across some random
piles of salt on blind curves. The potholes and gravel are pretty bad in
some areas too.  It's fine to ride, but you have to keep your speed down
and your wits about you.  If you pull over on a shoulder you need to watch
the gravel too.   Hopefully in the next few weeks the cars will push the
ugly stuff to the side of the roads."

The GPX file is pretty much to & from my house Highlands. 
Also the last 50 or so miles are a little out-of-the-way twisty tourney which most of us will probably bail out at some point to 287. Towards Somerville.

In 2019 three of us were riding just south of Vanzant. It was about this time of year and the temperature  was approaching 60ish. Most of the roads were stained whitish from the salting of the previous weeks. Even though there was no snow to be seen, we came around a mountain to find ourselves in the middle of an ice flow that crossed the road. While we were only traveling in the 30 mph range, the sudden change in conditions resulted in two of our members sliding and taking a fall. They were shaken, bloody nose, bruised shoulders and minor damage to the bikes was the result. Thank God there was no oncoming traffic otherwise things could have been much different.

The point here is, while we at the shore see no ice, in the mountains the nights are still below freezing and even though you don?t see ice, it can still exist. Ride safe.

This is an additional report I received from a friend in NW Jersey area.

"I did a ride on Tuesday and Wednesday on the RT and today did a 17 mile bicycle ride.  The snow is basically gone, but I did run across some random piles of salt on blind curves. The potholes and gravel are pretty bad in some areas too.  It's fine to ride, but you have to keep your speed down and your wits about you.  If you pull over on a shoulder you need to watch the gravel too.   Hopefully in the next few weeks the cars will push the ugly stuff to the side of the roads."

Greg, that exact situation is something I've always been concered about,
snow still in the shadded woods melting and wetting the roads during the
day and freezing during the night. Although the sun melts the road ice the
next morning,  parts of the road in shade maintain their ice, typically
around turns and elevation changes. Scary....

Hi, starting to rethink The Highbridge loop north west to Easton pa area.  

Maybe we should save that for warmer dryer conditions hopefully in the near future.  
I?m working on another route South  
Possibly meet at Wawa by Farmingdale 
Off wyckoff. Work our way down to Little egg Harbor area and Loop back.  

If anybody else has suggestions i?m all ears,
back roads  obviously there  won?t be many hills but at least as much twisty turney  as possible.

Joe, Greg, Rick and I did a great ride to south Jersey, Tuckerton, and the bogs.? ? I put on 194 miles in 7 hours (from home).

Spring is again upon us and time for the moribund among us to gather and lunch together. AM Kitchen is a good spot for a nice lunch or if the mood strikes you a good breakfast. Sometimes the conversation is also good.
Still in Carolina and waiting for my second ?shot? before I return so I will again miss this premier event of the month.
