She wanted to know if it was on so she could book a room. I realized we've had no discussion of this, mostly since I considered it a moot point with Covad-19.? I have not contacted Wendy at Crystal Brook, but I visited the website and it appears they are doing room rentals with the full American Plan again (all meals included.) Looks like the prices went up about $10 or so which is understandable. The reason we picked the weekend of September 18th-20th is (1) it's the actual start of Oktoberfest in Germany (2) we were able to get rooms and pretty much have the Crystal Brook to our own since the Von Stuben Day parade was that weekend in NYC, and all the blockheads (said most affectionately since I'm half block-head) are in NY for the weekend. That may not be true this year. The Von Stuben Day Parade is going to be a virtual parade...?? so there could be blockheads wandering around Crystal Brook looking for beer to drink. So - the reason for this somewhat extended missive is - is ANYONE interested in Oktoberfest weekend at the Crystal Brook?? If so - I'll contact Wendy and see what we can negotiate. The Brauhaus appears to be open and observing social distancing - they setup tents outside and on the new patio and apparently beer is flowing. Let me know.? Please only reply if you have interest in going. Thank you for your persistence in acquiring articles and editing/writing. ? I enjoyed Jack Riepe's article? nice to have a member publish something in our newsletter.? How could someone NOT LOVE tenting the way Jack describes it. However in my youth, I never had a blond, brunette, or xxx? show up at my tent or plastic tarp. ?? Jack--- I guess you have a special kind of LUCK (or bad luck). To answer your Q about meeting at Our House Restr. ? YES ? I am ready,? I went by there yesterday to look at the? tent/outside area. Their tented enclosure will be fine... but now that restaurants? allow inside dining... we can probably do that (up to limited capacity). I admit that I didn't do a thing about it until now - figuring that it would be another victim of Covad-19. Since people asked - I just got off the phone with Wendy. There are 4 rooms available - each with a king-size bed. So they sleep 2, but would be best for couples.? This is the weekend of 9/18th-20th. Wendy is offering us 2 different packages: - the usual all weekend package including all meals - priced run from $200-215 per person for the weekend. - a B&B selection - you get a room and breakfast - and you're on your own for lunch/dinner. This sounds very inexpensive, $120 (I believe per person) for the weekend. If you're interested - I'd suggest calling to make reservations soon, I'm guessing the 4 remaining rooms probably won't last too long. http://www.crystalbrook.com/rates 518-622-3751 You want to speak to Wendy. We're almost to the 10-issue countdown to wrap up 2020's Cycle News collection of 50 stacked editions. But, before we get ahead of ourselves, we have Issue 39 to keep us entertained. So many races. We have Motocross from around the world, MotoGP, National Hare and Hound and American Flat Track. Also, we cover the always entertaining GNCC series and some go-fast bikes in NHRA. And there's even more. Even with all that, we might be more excited about the new bikes in this one. Bikes rule. We have full reviews of the 2021 Honda CRF450R, BMW R 18?and a first look at the GasGas MC 450F motocross machine from their latest product line announcement. Let's go. There's likely a bunch of other stuff in this issue that we're too impatient to list here, because we just sort of want to look at all the awesome pictures now.? Always free. Always every week.? Message-ID: <597113ec-6626-eeb4-3a41-6ad72431c15b@gmail.com> It's that time again. Unless you want a nice long article about how much fun it was leading 30 Porsches on a 60 mile trek through the Pine Barrens (from Jackson to Batsto, including Pasadena Road and Pleasant Mills Road) - someone will have to come up with some BMW related stories. I know people went to Oktoberfest at the Crystal Brook - lets hear about it and see some photos.? I'm sure Roger has something to write about.? How about RDS and the story of getting his NC bike registered in NJ and finding all the gear needed to ride it? BTW - used the motorcycle group technique of each vehicle being responsible for the person/vehicle behind you on the Porsche parade I was leading..? it worked surprisingly well.? Speeds weren't very fast (except on Pasadena Road - where perhaps we got a bit above the speed limit) - but for a group drive that I figured was at least 1/2 mile long - it went quite well.? Avoiding intersections, especially ones with traffic lights is a good technique, but unfortunately, even in the Pines that wasn't always possible.? It all went better than expected, we didn't loose anyone, and no one crashed into anything. A success!? Had a nice socially distanced picnic lunch at Batsto. Lets get scribbling.?
