Who has and is using this GPS unit?
I am thinking of buying one but would like to talk to a user before I do so.
I have been using Garmins but do not like them too much. Had a TOM-TOM many years ago and it was perfect for me.
You can call me at the shop 732-786-9777 or my cell 732-833-7783
Thank you
Klaus Huenecke

Subject: [NJSBMWR] NJ Ride for the Cure... Update and corrections
Apparently my alter-ego wrote the May newsletter article while asleep..
or something like that.
A few corrections:
The website is http://njrideforthecure.org - *NOT .com.* I don't quite
know where Bill found that particular ad clip he used, but sadly it is
was simply a trial made before we actually registered the website. The
actual website has been on line for a while, and donations HAVE BEEN
MADE through it. That's all up and running, and the two organizations
who benefit from our efforts are quite happy with this, and they way
we're doing it (using the website as basically a pass-through to these
organizations who then handle the money and tax benefits to the people
donating.)
Cross-Country has generously offered to host the event, but THERE IS NO
RIDE involved with the event at Cross-Country. What will happen is on
August 1st a list of selected historic locations in NJ will be published
via email and on the website. The entrants in the event will ride *on
their own *to these locations and document their ride. Each location
they visit and document will give them one more door prize ticket.
We have not YET gotten IRS 501(c)3 designation. This is a letter that we
apply for after outlining our organization and it's goals to the IRS.
Ed Gerber is following up on this. I expect to hear when he achieves
this. We are a corporation in the state of NJ which will allow us to
start a bank account and do things like cash checks and write checks
legally.
The BMW-MOA and BMW-RA are running our advertising material in their
future magazines before the event. The MOA has agreed to put it in the
July and August issues (which will be mailed to members in June and
July.) The RA publishes bi-monthly, so they will include it in their
next issue along with a writeup on what it is and why.
BMW-Motorrad USA (the motorcycle branch of BMW-USA) is still
deliberating in how they can help us. They are very interested in doing so.
A number of vendors have made generous donations - Klim donated a jacket
and pants ($550/retail value), Dud's Helite Vest guy has donated a $300
off certificate for a vest (effectively half-off), Edelweiss has sent a
$500 off certificate for ANY of their 2019/2020 tours. Others I've
forgotten have also offered us support, but that documentation is right
now 2,600 miles from me.
I will not be reporting at the meeting in May - but this may be
submitted as my update for that meeting. If there is any other info to
share - from the committee members - please do. There will be handout
materials at the meeting, and some materials I'd like to see placed at
motorcycle dealerships. Since it is not brand-specific (an "all-brands"
event) please do think outside the box on getting the widest
distribution of this material. Stumpy's and the Indian/Zero dealer in
Neptune come to mind, as does the KTM/Zero dealer out on 206 near the
206/70 circle.
Currently in Kingman Arizona. 85F, sunny, Seligman was silly busy today,
must be some weekend event going on. We didn't even bother to look for a
parking place... people wandering out in the old Rt66 roadway made it a
bit of a challenge to get through. Will be in LA tomorrow..
Thanks much to Bill for doing the newsletter while I'm away. Since I'm
using a convertible tiny laptop PC it wouldn't be too easy for me to do
it while on the road.
Rubber side down eh! See you all in June!
