Not to be picky, but it looks like an RT to me. What year?

I am looking for a particular 1978 BMW R100RS in Metallic Gold with the VIN
6182967. I did a VIN search and found that as of 2014 it was titled in PA
and is still titled there. At that time it has about 78k miles on it

I know the fellow who owned the bike from 1988-1995. He turns 50 this year
and is feeling especially nostalgic about his old beemer, and would love to
take a ride up to at least look at it and chat with the current owner.
(This little project to find his old RS is a birthday present). We are
located in Virginia. The last he saw of his RS, he sold it to a rider in
New York in 1995.

Hoping someone in the Airheads network has this bike and won't mind
reaching out so I can put the two of them in touch.

I know this is a long shot, but I appreciate you taking the time to read it
and if you happen to know of an RS matching this description and could
point me in the right direction I'd be grateful!

Thanks and have a great day!
