Message-ID: <0ac83b81-0dc0-0ec0-758a-a09c22fce721@gmail.com> Greetings fellow Airheads! As I sit here eating lunch at my "work from home office" - a.k.a. the end of the kitchen island, I see just how nice and sunny it is.? We've already had some nice days and I certainly hope that you've been able to get some riding in!? Don't let that pesky crap coming in on Friday worry you.? It'll be 60 by early next week! I haven't had the RS out yet although I did get her fired up.? I think (or rather, hear) that a valve adjustment is in order along with a final bleeding of my front brakes.? Recall I finished out last year rebuilding my master cylinder and, working alone at the time, I don't feel I got it bled adequately.? Although when I grabbed the brake lever a couple weeks ago, I noticed it felt firmer than it had or perhaps just firmer than I remember?? It's possible that, sitting all winter the residual air may have bubbled up eventually?? I'll probably give it a few more pulls anyway. Fellow rider and friend Adam Gilpatric and I drove to NY a few weekends ago to pick up another bike, an 1100R.? I know not an airhead.? It's still a sickness.? So I'm sitting currently at 5 bikes but as soon as I get the front clip for our 1100RS back from being fixed and painted (from a soft tar incident) and the bike reassembled, I'll sell the 1100RS.? I can't justify 5 bikes.? 4 is hard enough. Let this also serve as a reminder if you have paid your ABC dues, please do so!? As the NY Air Marshall for many years he was well known in the BMW community. He organized the ?Airheads at the Aerodrome? rally and this would have been the 25 th year of that great event. Mike?s wife, Karla and daughters Johanna and Alice are hosting a catered dinner from the new time of 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. followed by your time to share stories and memories of Mike. There will be live music performed by one of Michael?s favorite local musicians, Jeff Entin. Registrations are on a first come, first served basis to ensure that you have a seat. Space is limited, so send your registration early (additional document) to Sioux Harris to ensure your spot. We need your registration for the dinner no later than July 9. As always, those who are not registered will not be able to attend. Registration does not cover camping. New park management requires campers to arrange their own camping. This is a one-day event- BUT- those wishing to make it a full weekend can register directly with Wilcox Park for a campsite: https://www.dutchessny.gov/Departments/Parks/Wilcox-Park.htm Campsites at the park are limited, so we encourage you to arrange your site right away. There are additional campsites and motels in the area. Contact Sioux for more information. Campers will have coffee available in the morning for a donation. There are hot showers, a swimming beach, fire rings, great local riding and restaurants. There will be some door prizes, t-shirts, and an informal swap meet. Michael had great respect for the Hudson River Housing?s Homeless Veteran?s Programs. In his honor, collections may be made to benefit the programs; we will be doing a 50/50 during dinner as well. Message-ID: <2f9cc350-64ec-640c-1e78-3d2a9b36c8ac@gmail.com> Definitely overdue!? It had been some time since they were adjusted, certainly before I left on my 2019 jaunt to the Finger Lakes and the Virginia BMW Rider's Association? rallies.? They were all somewhat tight as expected but the right hand exhaust was VERY tight, like can't move the rocker at TDC tight.? But we're set now.? And ahhhhhhh the sound of a freshly valve-adjusted airhead!? I found my front brakes adequate, enough to give me confidence in them.? I will probably do a couple more bleed pulls on it just to be sure when I freshen up the oil for the season too.? I did ride her some early in the season last year until I noticed the brake fluid drip, then she went down until much delayed parts arrived.? By then the season was over.? Looking forward to getting some miles on her this year as we're HOPING to make the trek down to the RA rally in NC in August.? We'll see. So.. What are you all working on?? Let's see 'em! Message-ID: Morning folks! So we've been working the food truck angle and perhaps should have had some prior knowledge beforehand. Apparently the truck gets paid to show up , in case no one shows or the event is rained out, especially when we're looking at 30+- people. I get it, the upfront costs of being prepared. In our case the truck was looking for $1500. The good news is that our gracious host Ande is willing to eschew his wrenches and specialty BMW tools for a spatula and grill! There will be breakfast sandwiches and coffee for the early arrivers and burgers and dogs and drinks for the lunch crowd. As is SOP for Airhead functions, there will be a donation can do we can cover Ande's costs. Can't wait! On a side note, I rode the RS to work this morning! What a glorious, if far to short ride!
