Hello Chris,

I was asked to explain my RaceTech experience with Tom Cutter.

So while your experiences with Cutter have been good, there are many many Airhead owners that have had similar experiences that I had with him.....and even if 80% have good experiences with Cutter, then the 20% should say nothing?  Sorry, my friend, the 20% should be heard loud and clear.  Most of them are afraid to speak-out, but I am not.  I get emails & messages regularly from the big Airhead List and from the Airhead Facebook page where Cutter has left a path of pissed-off customers.

As far as two sides of the story, do you really think Cutter is going to admit to being abusive and arrogant?  Do you really think he will admit to calling the machinist that was doing my forks and telling him to "stop the job right now" and he would come pick-up the forks "as is".  Then he took some left-over (wrong) springs he had on-hand, shoved them in my forks and dropped in some 5 wt oil (that should have been 20 wt, right on RaceTech's site CLEARLY stated....and sent my forks back to me not only unfinished, but wrong.   No, there is no "other side of the story".....only self-serving deception.  You can swallow it, I will not.

Make no mistake, when Cutter is asked a knowledgeable question that HE perceives challenges his opinion he becomes arrogant and abusive.  I've seen it at every Tech talk he's given.  You see it too, but you turn a blind eye to it....as do many because they fear the loss of Tom's Airhead knowledge......and he knows it.

Airhead shops like Bud Provin, Ted Porter (Beemer shop), Bob Henig  Scottie Sharp all understand how to treat their customers with respect and professionalism......before, during and after the job is done....well past 30 days of warranty.....especially when their own invoice shows they did the job wrong.

As far as praising Cutter for his helping others and giving Super Tech talks, make no mistake..... this is for his business and he would not be there if he had a Honda repair shop.   Yes, he gives out a lot of BMW knowledge, but his after sales service & treatment to a customer is abusive & arrogant.  Not to everyone, but still too many.

Bottom line, I'm a consumer advocate for ALL Airhead owners, not just those who have not had issues with Cutter.

My best.......... Mike

<snip>  Mike I would like to say that I feel your diatribe against Tom Cutter is unwarranted and this is not the format to express your displeasure. Your unfortunate experience is not the norm. Also there are usually two sides to these disagreements.  I would suggest that anyone who has responded to Eric’s request for information has had exactly the opposite experience. Tom is the individual that has unfailing helped so many of us his immense Airhead knowledge whether or not it was a paying job, providing information for a rider stranded on the side of the road or standing up to entertain us at a Supertech when speakers did not show up.  I think Cannon # 8 was written with Tom on mind.  Cheers Chris

Actually Cutter doesn't put together a RaceTech Emulator "kit".
He buys everything from RaceTech just, like you & I can do on the RaceTech site.
Then he simply marks up the price, repackages the parts and sends to you.

Do note, Cutter's warranty on anything RaceTech is only 30 days.  After that he'll tell you not to call him anymore.......even if his invoice shows he sent you the wrong springs and fork oil.  It's yours on day 31..

RaceTech has a excellent site to deal with with full PDF instructions with pics that make the job easy.
The fork springs and fork oil drop-down menus are excellent and spot-on the money to your weight & suggestions.

Be ready to find out how much your shocks suck. ;)

Don't send your forks to Cutter.  He screwed-up mine big time.
Contrary to popular & poorly informed opinions he's a hack.
I ended up doing them properly myself.

Bill Lambert and I can answer further questions.
