You can put it in a pan of boiling water to see if the center pin extends as it gets hot. It may have died. The "expanding element" is #5 (11 42 1 259 488) in this diagram. Just measure the overall length to the tip of the shiny steel pin then toss it into boiling water. The water will not hurt it, but should make it push the pin out quite a measurable amount. The pin projects downward toward the bottom plug bolt, the one that you remove when fitting the bypass bolt for servicing after an oil and filter change. There is a compression spring in the cooler thermostat assembly to close the sensor when it has cooled adequately. It is NOT fast. In operation, there is a limited amount of travel to open the bypass valve. When testing the sensor in boiling water, it extends way past that limit and can stick a bit. It is not a failure. Message-ID: I just got my Airmail today and see that the Gathering of the Clans is tentative for June. We had a pretty fun "rolling rally" down there a couple years ago. Anybody planning on going this year? CDC head today that a 4th wave is expected in 1-2 months. Around 30% of America has gotten a vaccine shot and we don't really know if people who have had the vaccine or Covid itself if they can get it again......and again. Bottom line, just because we are getting use to this new normal and getting a bit comfortable.....does not mean we are out of danger.? Quite the contrary my friends, we are in deep shite and will continue to be until 80+% of America is vaccinated. I'd love to do the Clan gathering......but not under these circumstances.? Factually and morally I think it's the wrong thing to do. -----Original Message----- From: Eric Zwicky? I just got my Airmail today and see that the Gathering of the Clans is tentative for June.? ? Just trying to gauge potential interest if circumstances permit.
