Auction my R80RT?

I am forwarding the post to the MD Airheads list as well.

For anyone that hasn’t ridden an R80, I highly recommend them. I’ve been riding my R80/7 for ten years and it really is the smoothest engine BMW made.

I personally do not like riding behind a fairing and the R80 is a little underpowered to push that large fairing at highway speeds. Easy enough to pull off and make a nice naked R80 that is well suited for one up touring and even two up with a bit more shifting.

The 37/11 low gearing rear drive makes the bike quick in the mountains and it will sit at +/- 5200 rpms all day pulling 80 on the interstate if you are into that sort of thing…

Best,

Will

Hi Ed,

Have you advertised to the MD Airheads?

Also I have heard from one MD Airhead that The best vintage and classic cars for sale online | Bring a Trailer<https://bringatrailer.com/> worked well for him.

All,

I have been trying to sell my 1984 R80RT for maybe a year now. I've gotten a number of emails asking for photos and descriptions and two visits by potential buyers. Not much in the way of results. This despite the fact that -- at least in the opinion of Tom Cutter of the Rubber Chicken Garage -- I am offering it at an attractive price.

I am getting to the point where I just want to get this done. I do know that bikes get auctioned off on eBay. I wonder if anybody here knows how well that works. I'm not looking to make a killing. I'd just be happy to get the bike sold for a fair price. Informed opinion would be welcome.

I've attached a written description -- in Word format -- and a bunch of photos in case anybody here has an interest.

Best,
