Starting around 11PM yesterday, I have begun seeing posts on FB by Airheads, Oilheads and K-bikers for a Miuxo $39.99 see through R90S motor model.The one that I have always hoped to get for a birthday or Christmas is about $235 and made by Franzis (sp ??)Excuse my born-in-New Jersey sensibilities, but is the $39.99 item the Real McCoy., a cheap fake, or did it "fall off the back of a truck" ?

Your spelling is correct.

Quick search returns a lot of complaints about Miuxo site being a scam.  They take your money, blame vendors for goods not being delivered, and never return your money.  $40 does seem cheap unless it's a much smaller scale model then the 1/2 scale of the Franzis.

I bought the latter from Germany, last Spring. Very high quality?definitely not something they could have manufactured for under $39.00. 

I?d be skeptical and am not from NJ even. But $39? Not gunna kill ya if its junk.

As an airhead I've always been an optimist when believing in the ability of
people doing the right thing... of course that trust has always been
narrowly applied to people who own, ride, and maintain their own type 247
machines.

I reluctantly admit my slight distrust of owners and newer models, while
owning a K1100RS myself... Maybe, I am, even slightly wary of myself...

All that said, $40 cash left on a picnic table from my perspective is a
rally contribution!

LDoS 2021... We will all be together again soon.

With all the time we have own our hands, the bikes should be tip-top by
spring!

The color is Avis Black,very common.

The hard part is finding someone who will hand stripe the tank 
correctly.

There is always Holt in OH. Expensive, but I have yet to see a better 
paint job. All of their work is like glass, better than factory.

Let me know what you find, I am in a very similar situation.

+1 on Kent Holt (Holt BMW). While his operation is much smaller, his work us incredible. I believe he was BMW?s goto North America guy east of the Mississippi. 

I emailed him a month ago looking for him to paint my ?77 R100RS. Have not heard back. 

Another good source for pre-1970 pin-striping is Michael O?hara in southern Maryland. He?s been in the wind the last few years but used to paint for the late Lap/Capitol Cycles. 

Lastly, there is a gentleman across from Bob Henig?s Bob?s BMW in Jessup, MD. His first name is Bob, not sure of his surname.

Walt,

Jim Farver's body shop in Hanover has a generally good reputation.  I don't know whether they would just paint a motorcycle tank, but Jim is a BMW guy.  I don't know whether he is still active in the business, but you might try:  435 Penn Street in Hanover  717 637 1230.  Jim may not be in the best of health.  I met him a few years back at Chris Kennedy's TechnoBarn.  Almost certainly they do not pinstripe.  If Larry Spangler still does paint work, he's very good and in Hanover.
