Governor Hogan's mandate announced today has forced my hand but at the same time I am very pleased that he is at the helm of our state. The governors address today removed any slight thoughts I had that the event may go forward and I think the measure, though filled with hardship, was the correct way forward. This is not the end of Technobarn or other gatherings on the Ridge. We can see how things unfold and should the opportunity provide itself we are open to alternatives. I was thinking of waiting till the 1st of April to make the announcement but at this stage there is no fooling around. This event has always been a highlight of my year. Bridget has always been amazing providing uncomplaining background support, entertaining the troops and allowing us to wrench to our hearts content. The opportunity to congregate with so many great friends in one day is very unique. This year would have also been a special celebration for me personally. I am hoping this can now translate in to another celebration that every one of you and your families remain safe and come out the other side healthy and stronger for the experience. Keep the faith and keep riding. I am. I had anticipated worst case that I would just wear a bandana. I have balaclavas but had not thought that far ahead. I am banned from mingling altogether. Bridget is the one on the front lines. In the meantime I am doing everything I can to keep the faith. Got another 50 mile ride in today on a lovely day. Finished of in fine style listening to Kiri te Kanawa rocking out to some of my favorite Puccini, Verdi arias. With accompaniment. Just trying to maintain a modicum of civility in this very uncivil time. Keep the faith. We will all be together water we want to or not in the near future. I hope each and everyone of you and your families are healthy and finding appropriate entertainment to while away these socially distancing days. Bridget and I are doing fine. Healthy and still enjoying each other?s company. I will sorely miss not hearing that distinctive exhaust sound of Airheads running up and down Bacon Ridge road all day. Perhaps I should spend the next few hours just running up and down the street on the /5 to create some atmosphere. There will be a fire and the grill will be working. My children are coming by this afternoon to hang out even though that also will be at arms length. I don?t see much chance for larger crowds gathering for some time unless there is a breakthrough with a vaccine. If one shows up we are always ready for a Technobarn gathering. On the bright side I will know where to find all my tools in the morning. Keep the faith, keep riding, that?s what I?m doing. Perhaps I should spend the next few hours just running up and down the street on the /5 to create some atmosphere. There will be a fire and the grill will be working. We apologize for all the deplorable sunshine and blue skies we had last time. We are looking forward to the optimal conditions of years past. Those include but not limited to soul crushing misery, numbing cold, mosquitos the size of small dogs, migrating worms, cruel mice, floorless tents, rampaging mold and plenty of glorious rain!! We'll be celebrating under the leaking old tarp from noon on Friday until noon on Sunday. The campground management has requested that all have a face masks handy. The shower facilities may not be open, but who showers at a rally anyway? I know many of us haven't had a haircut in awhile, so as an added bonus, we will have a Flowbee with a vacuum attached for free haircuts. The rally commission has never cut hair but claims to have ?some really good ideas". Did we mention "FREE"?
