Many thanks to everyone responding to my cry for help regarding cleaning out my fuel tank. It seems that Caswell is the coating of choice and that’s what I will use. It is obvious after the hints provided and my research that the preparation is the most important task. Using the Caswell coating seems pretty straight forward.
I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Hey Chris,
Caswell Plating has a number of excellent products specifically for sealing motorcycle tanks, a very complete line at different prices and colors. I've used the red "Dragon's Blood" for sealing a tank a few years back and was very satisfied with the results. These are generally two part epoxy sealers. Some great products here, concise directions and good customer support. Check them out at:

As I recall, navigating their site successfully may require downloading the app.
You mentioned KBS, I've used their paints and coatings for automotive applications and know they make quality stuff. I've no experience with their tank sealer.
