I would be remiss if I didn't recall one of my favorite stories about Bob and I. On a Friday when we were freshmen??he was going to spend the night at my house on Millwood Road so we could sneak out and crash a girls slumber party. Well after doing so we came home about 2:00 AM and realized that every single door and window was locked! As we were walking around the back yard the flood lights came on! My initial reaction was to run into the dark, but Bob was stunned and froze in place! It felt like Stalag 17! From an upstairs window my father bellowed out, "Come to the front door now!" Well Bob was allowed to go to bed without any comments and I? received?the wrath of the future Judge! My only hope today is that Bob and my Father are laughing about it together! Joining in thanks and also in fully embracing the many special recognitions everyone already has offered about Bob and his family. He was such a great friend, a true ?all-around? guy with the best smile, and he brought that to his life as a ?Dukie?, where we traveled to/from Durham together in those early years. Gone way too soon. Must add that family links abound - Bob?s parents, Ardis and Bob, Sr., were very close friends of my folks (?Kaye and Stef?), and my sister Tracy, HGHS?70, is equally close to classmate Cathy. (This amazing gift came as a big (and overwhelming wonderful) surprise to us, though!) May everyone stay safe and sane (with perhaps the latter being the hardest part...).
