had layshaft bearings go bad at 19-20k miles. It’s not a hard job to
replace the bearing. No need to touch the primary side, and the gearbox shell
remains in place. A proper bearing puller helps. <BR><BR>

<DIV>Good day all,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I would like to thank all that I have either talked to Bob, or emailed
for your support regarding my questions on the gear box of my 850 interstate.
THANK YOU.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>To Start my bike is running fine and shifting perfectly with out any
issue or movement of the kick starter when running her up in neutral or any
other time. The reason for all the questions is the INOA list has
put the fear of god in me for running the stock lay shaft bearing in my gear
box. My 850 only has 14K miles on her as she was parked for a long
while. She shifts fine and has fresh gear lube in her. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>My question is am I ok riding this bike this summer or is this a decree
to park it till I can update the gear box with a new lay shaft
bearing? </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks all,</DIV>
<DIV>Ciao,</DIV>
